Gah Gah, Goo Goo
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. – 1 Peter 2:1-3
Peter is telling believers that since they are now God’s children – pursuing holiness, obeying truth and loving one another deeply, they are to rid themselves of everything that hinders their walk with Christ. They are to crave God’s Word as newborns crave their mother’s milk. In this way, they will “grow up” in their salvation. Being saved is just the beginning for the Christian. God has given us 66 books/letters for us to get to know Him and His Will. We must, therefore, crave the milk (basics) as new believers, and then crave solid food (deeper truths) as we mature (Hebrews 5:14).
